This is the truck that is sacrificing itself for the greater cause. I thought a lot about how I would complete this conversion, and in the end I decided that the cleanest way to do it would be to cut the front portion of the frames off, just in front of the forward cab mounts, and weld the 4 wheel drive frame to the 2 wheel drive crew cab. It seems complicated but this method allows me to use all of the factory mounting points for the power steering box, leaf springs, etc.
Everything will bolt in place as if it came from the factory.

I've always loved old Fords. For the past couple years I've really gotten into these Pre-1980's four doors known as "crew cabs". This one, pictured above, is the second that i've owned. It's a 1979, 1 ton long bed. The only problem is that it's a 2 wheel drive. The solution? Make it a 4 wheel drive! After I purchased This crew cab, I located a truck that would soon donate its four wheel drive parts to convert the crew cab to four wheel drive.
